Day 26

Today I got up early and went to Gallerie dell’Accademiawith Holly which I very much enjoyed because I have missed seeing Renaissance art! I saw some beautiful works by Titian, Tintoretto, Giorgione which made me very happy :)

Apparently da Vinci’s ‘The Vitruvian Man’ is in the gallery but I didn’t see it :(

There are lots of restorations going on to the building so unfortunately a few of the rooms were closed. I did get in for free though so that’s a plus!

The Tempest by Giorgione 1508

Today was Festa delle Famiglie at the PGC so everyone had to work because it was a bit crazy! The PGC put on 3 free workshops for children during the day. Their activity today was to create their own Pistoletto mirrors by painting a self portrait on to a mirror. It turned out to be quite a messy activity but the end products were very impressive!

Seated Man by Michelangelo Pistoletto 1962
(This is currently on display in our Sonnabend exhibition)

At 5 all Venetian Families were let in for free and were given free sandwiches, sweets, drinks and wine (for the adults not the kids obviously). It was so much fun working because they were the cutest kids ever! I made friends with a rather smart young man who could speak both Italian and English because his mother was from Manchester. He told me that he prefers Manchester to Venice!
Hopefully he'll grow out of that.
