Today the temperature dropped down to 28 degrees and I was actually rather chilly so I wore trousers and a cardi for the first time in ages!
I guarded PC4 today for the first time ever so that was really exciting!
(I was going to tell you a bit about the works in PC4 but I don’t really have time because I need to prepare my talk for tomorrow but I PROMISE that I will tell all on Sunday! I will also explain a bit about the temporary exhibition in TES because some of you don’t seem to understand what it is!)
At 3 I had to guard the stairs because there was an event this afternoon so I got to be all nosey again and see the exciting food and drink that went up there.
What was even more amazing was the actual event! It was a 40th birthday party for some guy from Zurich. The theme for his celebrations was 40 hours and was basically celebrating for 40 hours non-stop. He flew 50 of his friends (plus a camera crew, official photographer and a man in a white suit plaing the guitar wherever they went) in a private jet from Zurich to Venice then they came straight to the PGC, went upstairs to drink for about an hour, had a quick look around the collection then they all got in gondala’s to go to their next event. There were four people to a gondola which meant that there was a traffic jam on the Grand Canal outside the Guggenheim. The guy was obviously loaded.
I have decided that that’s how I would like to celebrate my 40th and I think my parents should treat me to it. Start saving now please :D
The visitors at the PGC today were really nice and chatty but also very stupid. Unfortunately they were all English.
A few quotes from today:
“What’s up those stairs?”
“The roof”
“Is that where Peggy’s bedroom is?”
“No, it’s just the roof”
“So where was Peggy’s bedroom?”
“Inside the house”
“Are these real paintings?”
“Excuse me; my audio-guide is broken. When I press this button it stops”
“That’s the stop button”
“Where is Peggy buried?”
“There”
“Oh she wasn’t there the last time I was here. You’ve moved her.”
“You have such a good accent! Where did you learn English?”
“England”
I heard a couple talking about me:
“She had a really good English accent”
“I think she is English”
“No, she’s German”
“Oh yh”
EVERYONE THINKS I’M GERMAN!
After work we watched the first of the seminars. They were by Rosa, George and Dora and they were really good. They also gave us loads of food and drink so we were all very happy J
Oh and speaking of drink, I had a very good time last night at Anastasia’s! She got married before the Summer so she is very good at playing house-wife. She set the table so nicely and the food she made was soooo good! And there was loads of it!
We also had quite a bit to drink. Between the five of us we had 5 bottles of prosecco, a bottle of bellini cocktail, a bottle of red wine and a bottle of lemoncello. (Lemoncello tastes so much better when you’ve drunk lots of other drinks before it!)
It was very hard getting up this morning and I must admit that wasn’t on top form.
Here are a few pictures of my evening:
