Day 15

My work day wasn’t that interesting I’m afraid

This morning I was floating and I just sat around with a Jamie, Nicole, Eric and Antonella. Antonella is the German equivalent of me. We like the same bad American TV shows, we both have a slight obsession with James McAvoy and we like the same art for the exact same reasons. I like her :)

I watched her talk on Magritte and now I’m really excited to do mine!

For lunch we all went to Corner Pub and me and George were annoying everyone by singing that infamous ‘Friday’ song by Rebecca Black. We have decided to make a PGC version so watch this space.

We all trundled off to Grom and I got Crema di Grom which was amazing! It had bits of biscuit and chocolate in it. What’s not to like?

Although through my Google research I have found out that Grom is an international company and has shops in London, New York and Tokyo so I have decided today was the last day I’m going to go there. I will only shop at the little gelato stalls from now on.

This afternoon I was in Mattioli (yay), TES1, 2&3 and 4

I forgot to wear my watch today so my guarding activity was to hunt someone wearing a watch and follow them until I could see the time. My eyesight isn’t that great so I had to get pretty close to some people which was rather vile in this heat.

As something interesting for y’all to look at today I am going to tell you which art pieces we have to keep a special eye on when guarding.

Mattioli

Dynamism of a Speeding Horse + Houses – Boccioni 1914–15

This is a sculpture of a horse running in true Futuristic style. It's very fragile because it was once hung by it's nostril which is that little loop to the left. It's also in the smaller room of the Matteoli Collection so people get tempted to touch it.

TES 1

Arcs from Four Corners – Sol Lewitt 1971

This piece was drawn on the wall by the interns in June. It's drawn in pencil so it smudges easily. Most people don't notice it so lean against it thinking it's just a wall. I don't like looking at it because it makes my head hurt.

TES 2

Untitled – Jannis Kounellis 1985

The idea of this piece is to draw you in to touching this egg. Unfortunately the egg is real and I have been told that it is impossible to get white eggs in Venice which is why the artist decided to use that particular type of egg. People love to try and pick it up to see if it is real. This is the third egg the exhibition has used.

TES 3

Sliced Bologna - James Rosenquiste 1968

This piece was meant for people to walk through but it has to be exhibited against a wall now because it's been damaged from too many people going through it. People love to blow on or run their fingers through it.

TES 4

Fondamente Nove, Italy – Elger Esser 2002

This photo is massive and very pretty so everyone likes to try and take sneaky pictures of it. I enjoy standing in front of it so I ruin people's photos :)

TES 5

Per Purificare la Parole - Gilberto Zorio 1969

The purpose of these piece is to blow into it and the alcohol inside evaporates and you can see the vapour in the light (yh I know it's a stupid piece). This is a photo of the artist doing it.

The little label explains what you're supposed to do so everyone tries to do it but we aren't allowed to let them touch it. Why anyone would want to put their mouth near that disgusting thing I do not know.

I just realised that I wasn't in TES 5 today but I had put some thought into it and I didnt want to waste it.

I'm not sure when I wil be writing tomorrow's blog because I have been invited to Anastasia's for a dinner party for a select few only (the select few are those who live closest to her but it still makes me feel special to be a part of it!). We will then go to Campo Santa Margharita and enjoy a few drinks so it's probably best that I don't atempt to write my blog when I get in.

I shall take lots of pictures as a little treat for you though!
